OTP Scam Prevention
One-time passwords are designed to verify a transaction or login. A scammer who asks for the OTP is usually trying to capture the final factor that grants access to a banking or account system. This is why OTP theft is one of the most dangerous pieces of information a victim can share.
Never share
- Bank OTPs
- UPI PINs
- App approval codes
- Recovery codes
What to do
- Hang up or close the message
- Verify the contact through an official channel
- Freeze or review banking access quickly
