Strong passwords
Create stronger passwords without making them impossible to remember
Strong passwords use a mix of length, unpredictability and uniqueness. A password that is reused across multiple sites creates a chain reaction: one account compromise can expose many others. Longer passphrases are often easier to remember and harder to guess than a short but complex password.
Best practices
- Use at least 12 to 16 characters when possible
- Use unique passwords per account
- Avoid names, phone numbers and common dictionary words
- Use a password manager to reduce memory issues
Common mistakes
- Reusing passwords across banking and email
- Saving login details in plain text
- Keeping old passwords for years
- Sharing credentials through messages or email
